Radio Moyle was formed in 1986 after several individuals came together with the aim of funding and establishing a station for patients in the Moyle Hospital, Larne. After much fund raising, training and planning, the station went on air in march 1988 and has provided a variety of programming over the years in which it has been operating.

The station closed for over a year in the 1990s when the Moyle Hospital was downgraded, but was reestablished by the Northern Ireland Health Board in new accommodation and with new equipment purchased by the station. Today, the station broadcasts in a unique way to stations in Northern Ireland using ISDN equipment to reach patients in the Antrim Area Hospital as well as those listening at the Inver Wards on the Moyle Hospital Site.
